Class Description: Adding Skills for Adult DogsClass Description: Adding Skills for Adult Dogs

If Canine Essentials is a bachelor’s degree for a family dog, Beyond the Basics is graduate school.

A systematic plan to have a reliable companion who listens in the real world.

Each exercise builds and expands upon the skills your dog mastered in earlier classes. Your dog will learn to sit and wait in the car, wait at the door with added distractions, come when called from a greater distance, walk on a loose leash around other dogs, and move fluidly between sit, down, and stand. He’ll also be trained to accept gentle handling of the feet and ears, leave it with higher-value items, and a stay with increased distance and duration. As you advance through the class, you’ll master loose leash walking while the handler balances an item in hand, backing up, following commands at increased distance and with added distractions, and table/kitchen manners. Responds to a yes when distracted or your don't have food rewards.

We use only gentle, humane techniques to change your dog’s behavior—techniques from the revolutionary book Click to Calm by Emma Parsons.
