Class Description: Community Good Citizen Skills
AKC advanced Canine Good Citizen testing asks that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in a variety of real-world settings.
Skills required for the CGCA include:
Sit, stand, or lie down and wait under control
Walk on a loose lead in a natural situation
Walk on a loose lead through a crowd
Ignore distractions
Sit and stay in a small group
Allow a friendly stranger carrying something to approach
Leave it with food
Sit or down and stay at a distance, then recall with distractions Enter a doorway or passageway under control and without crowding
How this class will benefit you at home:
Your dog can achieve a CGCA title
Your dog will demonstrate real-world behaviors, such as door manners and friendly crowd interaction
Evaluations for the CGCA builds valuable skills, such as ignoring distractions, tolerating noises, crossing the street safely, etc.
Who is this class for?
Dogs of all breeds and ages who have completed advanced CGCU or Community Canine training. All dogs must have the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title.
What prerequisites does this class have?
All dogs must be current on vaccinations before the test. Please bring your current documentation of your dog’s vaccination records to the first class. Dogs must have passed the CGC.
