AKC Rally Obedience
Class Description: AKC Virtual Courses
AKC Virtual Courses is a new take on traditional obedience. Unlike classic obedience, where a judge calls out instructions, in AKC Virtual Courses you and your dog move through a course of 10–20 stations, each with a printed sign indicating an exercise you and your dog will carry out. AKC Virtual Courses rules allow you to talk to and encourage your dog throughout the course. The focus is on teamwork between handler and dog - and on both having fun.
AKC Virtual Courses exercises include a variety of basic and advanced obedience maneuvers based on heel/loose-leash walking, standing, turning, sitting and lying down, backing up, etc. Even if you don’t intend to compete for titles, AKC Virtual Courses is great for teaching your dog attention, body awareness, and everyday life skills.
How this class will benefit you at home:
Obedience builds confidence and strengthens your bond
You and your dog can work on AKC and Cynosport Rally-O titles
Rally exercises teach practical skills: for example, Stand for Exam builds calmness at the vet’s office, and an eager recall can save your dog’s life if he or she accidentally gets out of the house or yard
