Class Description: Class Description: Going Beyond Good Citizen Skills
AKC advanced Canine Good Citizen testing requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in a variety of real-world settings.
Skills required for the CGCU include:
Exit/enter a doorway with no pulling or crowding
Walk through a crowd on a busy sidewalk
Ignore city distractions: horns, sirens, moving objects, various surfaces
Cross the street under control
Tolerate a friendly stranger carrying something
Walk under control into a dog-friendly public building
Navigate stairs, steps, or elevator under control
Use transportation such as a car or subway
How this class will benefit you at home:
Your dog can achieve a CGCU title
Your dog will demonstrate real-world behaviors, such as door manners and friendly crowd interaction
Training for the CGCU builds valuable skills, such as ignoring distractions, tolerating noises, crossing the street safely, etc.
Who is this class for?
Dogs of all breeds and ages who have completed advanced CGCU or Community Canine training. All dogs must have the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title.
What prerequisites does this class have?
All dogs must be current on vaccinations before the test. Please bring your current documentation of your dog’s vaccination records.
